Kira Hamilton Bio

Kira Hamilton is an Associate Education Ombuds. Before joining OEO Kira spent almost four years working as a paraprofessional and Behavior Technician in both public and private school settings serving students with disabilities. Her time in schools gave her experience implementing IEPs and BIPs in both general education and self contained classrooms. Kira learned the importance of listening to understand and the joy there is in that connection. Kira also was a Session Aide for WA State Senator Lisa Wellman during the 2025 legislative session where she was able to learn about the many different state departments and programs while assisting constituents with their questions and requests.

Kira earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Virginia and completed her Capstone on the effects of the judicial process within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Kira is passionate about equitable and inclusive education policy and helping the community access resources. Kira is an avid reader, especially science-fiction/fantasy and horror novels. She enjoys spending her free time cuddled up with a book and her cat Arwen. When she is not reading she can be found doing arts and crafts or playing table top games with friends.
